Learn the SMART process for building effective teams. SMART goals are powerful tools to use within the results-driven culture of a professional learning community (PLC). When goals are aligned from the building level to the classroom level, teams and teachers stay accountable, accomplish more, and are able to focus on next steps for sustaining high levels of student achievement.
The key to becoming a successful PLC is understanding the power of using collaborative processes for focused, data-driven learning and improvement. The SMART goals process creates the motivation for team action and experimentation; however, in order to achieve the greatest outcomes using the SMART goals process, individuals need strong team skills, the ability to translate data into SMART goals, and a willingness to engage in continuous improvement of professional practice. Acquire the skills and knowledge you need to successfully implement the SMART goals process in your school, whether your team is at the beginning stages of the PLC journey or is involved in deep implementation.
Learn a specific way of looking at data so that goals are based on the students' Greatest Areas of Need (GAN). Without the use of calculators or complicated formulas, teachers will be able to dig down to determine exactly where the greatest need and opportunities to impact learning will be. This very specific data will be helpful to individual teachers and teacher teams working through RTI processes.
Network and learn from people in other schools and districts as you spend two valuable days focused on answers to this essential question: In what ways will the SMART goals process support continuous learning and improvement in my school? |
